What's new in Phase 1 — Foundations

designed · Phase 1 · This page collects the Phase 1 rows from every page's History table. It flips to built increment by increment; the design record is phases/phase-01-foundations.md.

Phase 1 is the first thing you can watch. It promises one story in every village and three in most: the village survives ten days; on cold nights people gather at the campfire; when a building burns, the cautious flee and the brave fight; and more brave people than buckets produces a race. And it promises that for any of it you can ask how did this happen and get an answer.

Try it

When Phase 1 is built, this is the ten-minute tour:

  1. Open the village. Speed the clock to the first evening and watch the fire pit fill. Click a figure at the fire: the card says warming up (it beat wandering and eating).
  2. Let a night pass. Watch someone leave the warmth for the forest and come back with wood. Ask Explain this on Erik added wood to the campfire.
  3. Turn the dial to Tinkerer. Light the inn at noon on day 3. Watch who runs where. Count the buckets.
  4. Click the first person who fled. Explain this: the chain should end with …was set alight by you.
  5. Drag the timeline back to the moment the inn caught and watch it again, slowly.
