People die in Riverside Village, and the game does not stop it. In Phase 1 there are two ways: starving — hunger climbing all the way up because there was no food in reach or no knowledge of any — and lethal heat, from staying too long in or beside a burning building. Age, illness and violence arrive in later phases.
What happens¶
The moment a villager dies, whatever they were carrying — a bucket, an armful of wood — drops where they stood. The feed says so, in words: Mira didn't make it out of the smithy. Their figure leaves the village view.
What does not leave is their story. Everything Mira did, saw and decided is kept, and Explain this still works on it — Mira died in the smithy because the heat passed the point anyone could survive; the smithy burned because the inn's fire crossed the wall; the inn was set alight by you. Later phases build on that: a reputation that outlives its subject, a death that a village remembers.
What you can do¶
- Prevent it: spawn a brave villager near the river before you light the fire; fill the empty buckets; turn off fire spreading.
- Cause it: turn off berry regrowth and wait; light two buildings at once.
- Turn it off: toggle the lifecycle system, and villagers accumulate starvation or heat without dying — useful for seeing a mechanism without losing anyone.
