Technical Views, snapshots and the ring buffer

The timeline runs along the bottom of the village view. Drag it back and the village is as it was; release and it plays forward again, exactly as it happened. Step one moment at a time to watch a bucket race resolve. The last full day is always within reach.

Why it replays exactly

The village is deterministic: the same seed, the same rules and the same things you did always produce the same days. Going back is therefore not a recording — the game returns to a saved moment and runs the village again, which is why the replay matches perfectly and why, from Phase 3, you can fork: go back, change one thing, and let a different village run forward from there.

Interesting moments

When the game spots a deep chain of causes it marks the timeline and slows the clock: Something interesting happened — watch from here. The mark is a place to drag back to.

Speed

A tenth of normal for a fire minute by minute; a thousand times to let the days roll. Speed is yours; village time is the village's. See Time.
